Synopsis
The devil comes to Moscow wearing a fancy suit. With his disorderly band of accomplices - including a demonic, gun-toting tomcat - he immediately begins to create havoc. Mikhail Bulgakov was born in Kiev in May 1891. His sympathetic portrayal of White characters in his stories, in the plays The Days of the Turbins (The White Guard), which enjoyed great success at the Moscow Arts Theatre in 1926, and Flight (1927), and his satirical treatment of the officials of the New Economic Plan, led to growing criticism, which became violent after the play The Purple Island. He also wrote a brilliant biography of his literary hero, Jean-Baptiste Molière, but The Master and Margarita is generally considered his masterpiece. Fame, at home and abroad, was not to come until a quarter of a century after his death at Moscow in 1940.

I heard about this book many time before reading it and I am really happy I finally read it. The translation is quite good as well. I don't speak russian but it's still really enjoyable to read.

I searched for this book after finding out that Mick Jagger was given this book by Marianne Faithfull in 1967 and was a big inspiration for the song "Sympathy for the Devil".It was hard to get through and a had to take a "Brain" break but after a week I had read.I felt as if I was there in the Soviet of the 1930s through the writers very text.A must read for any one interested in their future, poltics or simply the "Rolling Stones".....
