I have to admit I wasn't a fan of the X Men at all before reading the "Astonishing X Men"-Series written by Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy, Angel and Firefly), however I did know the basics about them.A friend of mine told me I should read "Phoenix: Endsong" - I trusted her and - well, fell in love.Although it may be an action-driven Storyline, I am enthusiastic about the characters development as well as the dialogue - not too mention that really amazing artworks!Story is:Phoenix energy comes back to earth, invokes the dead body of Jean Grey and wants to use or consume Jeans Ex-Lover Scott Summers, who's in the meantime in a relationship with ex-villain and high profil-telepath Emma Frost.So that's what the comic's about:Scott's Love for Jean, Scott's love for Emma - Emmas love for Scott (god, I really fell in love with Emma!) - and Wolverines and Jeans attraction to each another.It was great how the comic just tried to explore the different meanings of what's love, what's an relationship and when it's time to let go.Anyone who likes a well-developed story with dramatic scences and well-written dialogue - compared with great art - should have a look at "Endsong" - he probably will fall in love with the Phoenix and her companions...
